Our shareholders
Our shareholders are ENERTRAG SE and Nicholas Holdings Limited.
Controlling shareholder ENERTRAG is a renewable energy company with deep knowledge, expertise and experience in hydrogen and renewable energy projects, with operations in Africa and globally. The company will provide important technical and engineering experience to the Hyphen project.
The company owns, operates and/or manages 1000+ wind turbines around the world and is a pioneer in green hydrogen and has one of the longest track records globally in the production of green hydrogen from wind energy:
- The company commenced development of its first green hydrogen project in 2005, in Dauerthal, Germany.
- The facility, which entered into operations in 2011, provides green hydrogen for the natural gas network and ENERTRAG owned and operated hydrogen fuelling stations, in Germany.
Excluding the Hyphen project, ENERTRAG has hydrogen production in operation or advanced planning of several hundred MW.
ENERTRAG is also an expert in energy systems design, integration and optimisation as demonstrated by the inauguration in 2019 of a 22MW storage facility at Cramzow, in Brandenburg, which at the time was the largest battery storage system in Germany.
Nicholas Holdings was established 33 years ago as a holding, investment and project development company and includes investment portfolios from the Active Value group and the Principle Capital group which was founded in 2004.
The company’s executive team has extensive experience in the development, operation, commercial structuring and financing of green and brownfields infrastructure projects in the power generation, port, rail and logistics infrastructure sectors across Africa.
The company has conceived, implemented, and realised billions of dollars of investments, with a specific focus on Africa, and will provide invaluable expertise and financial backing to the Hyphen project.
The majority of Nicholas Holdings’ investments are held and managed through its subsidiary, Principle Capital.
